Treatments
Microneedling in North Strathfield
Microneedling, also known as skin needling or collagen induction therapy, uses ultra-fine needles to create thousands of tiny, controlled channels in the skin. The skin responds with its own repair process, and the channels let the serum or plasma chosen for your treatment work deeper than it could on the surface. At Derma Regen Clinic it is performed by our registered nurse with the Dermapen 4, and a session takes about an hour.
How microneedling works
The Dermapen 4 moves a sterile, single-use cartridge of fine needles across the skin at a depth your nurse sets for each area: very shallow around the eyes, deeper where scarring sits. The tiny channels close within hours. What follows over the next weeks is the skin’s own renewal, which is why changes build gradually rather than overnight.
The Dermapen 4 handpiece is included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG 356305), as are its single-use needle cartridges (ARTG 367612).
- Often considered for acne scarring, uneven texture, enlarged-looking pores, fine lines and skin that has lost some firmness. Your nurse talks through what it can realistically do for your skin.
- Paired with a treatment solution, plant-based exosomes or your own plasma, chosen at consultation to suit your skin and goals.
- Suits most skin types. Treatments are for adults 18 and over.
Who it may not suit
Microneedling is not performed over active acne breakouts, cold sores, skin infections or broken skin, and it may not suit you during pregnancy or with certain medications or skin conditions. Your nurse goes through your history at consultation before anything is booked.
Pricing
Microneedling is paired with a treatment solution or your own plasma. Prices per session:
- With a depigmentation solution: $299
- With plant-based exosomes: $400, or a course of 4 for $1,500
- With PRP (your own platelet-rich plasma): $400, or a course of 4 for $1,500
- With PRF (your own platelet-rich fibrin): $500, or a course of 4 for $1,900
- With a polynucleotide skin booster: $680
- Add the neck and décolletage: $110
Course sessions are spaced to suit your skin, and full terms are confirmed at booking. The right pairing for you is worked out at your complimentary consultation.
Comfort, downtime and aftercare
A numbing cream is applied first, so most people feel a light vibration and some prickling rather than sharp discomfort. Pinpoint bleeding during the session is normal. Afterwards the skin is usually pink to red, a little like mild sunburn, for one to two days, sometimes with tightness, light dryness or flaking for a few days after that.
Typical aftercare means no makeup for the first day, gentle products only, a pause on active skincare such as retinoids and acids for several days, avoiding heat and hard exercise for a short time, and daily sun protection. Your nurse gives you written aftercare for the pairing you had.
As with any skin procedure there are risks, including redness, swelling, bruising and temporary sensitivity, and less commonly infection, a cold-sore flare, changes in pigmentation or a reaction to the product used. These are explained plainly before you decide anything. Results vary from person to person.
Does microneedling hurt?
Numbing cream is applied before the session, and most people describe the feeling as a light vibration with some prickling over bonier areas. Your comfort is checked with you throughout.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your skin and what you are treating. Scarring and texture usually call for a course rather than a single visit. Your nurse recommends a number and spacing for your skin at consultation, and results vary from person to person.
How is it different from Whitox Bio Microneedling?
Whitox uses microscopic natural spicules massaged into the skin, with no device and no needles. Microneedling with the Dermapen 4 uses fine needles at a depth set for each area, which allows more targeted work on concerns such as acne scarring. Which one suits your skin is discussed at your consultation.
Is there downtime?
Most people are pink to red for a day or two, with light dryness or flaking possible for a few days after that. If you have an event coming up, plan your session around it with your nurse.
How booking works
Consultation-first, always
Your care is designed to respect TGA and AHPRA guidance, with the same high standard of service throughout. For any medical aesthetic concern you start with a consultation, so your plan is built around you, honestly and in person.
